I realize I haven’t been the best friend I should have been. I realize I should have been less selfish about my feelings and more mindful of yours. I realize I need to spend more time changing myself than trying to change the people around me. I realize how important you really are to my life and that I can’t take any risks with this friendship. I realize that I can’t let my personal biases and prejudices get to me so much. I realize how much you do for me. I realize how much I do for you. I realize this is not going to fix itself overnight.

But of course, everything will work out. It always does.
